Welsh manufacturer donates £5K to Action for Children’s Crisis Fund for children in need this Christmas

Aberdare-based electronic manufacturing firm, Philtronics Ltd., have donated £5,000 to Action for Children’s Crisis Fund to help combat child homeless and poverty this Christmas in South Wales.

Recent events such as the global pandemic and cost of living crisis have kept child poverty at a constant high across the UK. Families are in a constant struggle to buy food and other essentials for their children due to rising costs. During winter 2021/22, 1.6 million children did not have their basic needs met, such as having access to cooked meals, suitable winter clothes and a warm home. This can be an isolating and painful experience for parents and children alike and can have negative impacts on both their physical and mental health.

Supporting these children and families is incredibly important, and Action for Children’s Crisis Fund aids in ensuring children are safe and happy. In 2022/23, the charity helped 46,534 children, young people and their families in Wales, and with Philtronics’ donation, the charity can continue to support children and families this festive period.

As a Welsh company, contributing to this cause was very important Philtronics. Chief Executive, Simon Pritchard, said: “As parents, and with many of our employees having families of their own, we had to take action. We hope that our donation can help other Welsh families through this difficult time so they can have some Christmas joy.”

Supporting local communities is a value held very highly at Philtronics, with the company having previously helped fundraise £100,000 for Action for Children during their five-year partnership.

Simon said: “The work that Action for Children do is fantastic, and we love supporting a charity who also support local people. We plan to continue this partnership to make sure more children and young people have a positive childhood.”
